About Madinah Arabic Book 3

The Madinah books (Durus al-Lughah al-Arabiyyah li-Ghayr an-Natiqin biha) were written by Dr. V. Abdur Rahim for the Islamic University of Madinah. They build Arabic up step by step through grammar, entirely in Arabic, and are used worldwide in Islamic schools and for self-study.

Book 3 is by far the largest volume: 2,014 words, more than Books 1 and 2 combined. The texts get longer and the grammar more advanced, leading into intermediate level.

How to learn these words

Learn one lesson at a time, ideally right after working through its text in the book — the words then come with context.
Learn every noun together with its plural. Broken plurals cannot be derived from the singular, so they have to be memorised as a pair.
Learn verbs with past tense, present tense and masdar. The vowel of the present tense is not predictable from the past.
Test yourself instead of re-reading the list, and review on a schedule: the next day, after a few days, then after weeks.
